Pioneering the Use of Clear Aligners for the Orthodontic Management of Our Patients with Cleft Lip and Palate

Description: Clear aligner therapy has been around for over 20 years, but there is little discussion about its use in the management of cleft and palate. This presentation will discuss clear aligner technology and present pros and cons of clear aligners versus traditional braces. We will discuss the objectives of the various orthodontic phases in cleft lip and palate care and review cases in which clear aligners were used to achieve the treatment goals.
Learning Objectives:
At the completion of this activity, learners will be able to:
- Discuss the relative pros/cons between clear aligners and traditional braces.
- Explain one case presentation in which clear aligners were used to achieve the treatment goal in one orthodontic phase in cleft lip and palate care.

At the completion of this activity, learners will be able to:
- Self-assess a gain in knowledge related to treating patients with clear aligners.
- Self-assess that they will be able to apply knowledge gained to their patient management, which will improve patient outcomes.
