• First Author: The primary or lead author on the abstract
  • Co-Author: Authors who have collaborated on the abstract with the first author

The submitter must include contact information for all authors: full name, email address, institution and location – city, state, and country.

There is no limit on the number of co-authors. If an author’s name appears on more than one abstract, it must be identical on each abstract.

The first author, submitter, senior author, or principal investigator must present the abstract, except in the case of poster presentations, where any listed author may present. Requests for presenter changes will be considered under extenuating circumstances.

Disclosing Conflicts of Interest

In order to provide accredited continuing education, all authors are required to disclose all financial relationships with ineligible companies and disclose any relationship, whether financial or non-financial, that is relevant to the proposed course’s content. An email will be sent to each author to log in and complete their disclosure form. The abstract will not be considered for inclusion at the Annual Meeting unless all authors have completed a disclosure form.

Author Involvement

All authors should be able to attest that they participated sufficiently in:

  1. Either experimental conception and design, data acquisition, or data analysis and interpretation.
  2. Either abstract preparation or critical review of the abstract for important intellectual content.
  3. Final approval of the version to be submitted for review, presentation, and publication, and acceptance of public responsibility for its content.

Abstract Acceptance and Presentation

Submission of an abstract constitutes a commitment by the author(s) to present in person if accepted. Please note that presenters are responsible for covering their own travel and registration costs. Please also note that one of the following authors listed on the abstract submission must present: the first author, submitter, senior author, or principal investigator, except in the case of poster presentations, where any listed author may present.

Any individual who RSVPs “Yes” for an individual presentation, or RSVPs “Yes” on behalf of a panel presentation, study session, or instructional course with multiple presenters, and subsequently withdraws less than six weeks before the Annual Meeting (after March 17, 2027) may forfeit the opportunity to submit an abstract for ACPA’s 2028 Annual Meeting. This policy will not apply if another author on the abstract is confirmed to present in place of the withdrawing presenter or in cases of extenuating circumstances that could not have been reasonably foreseen. Requests for exceptions based on such circumstances will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis by the chair of ACPA’s Program Task Force.

By submitting an abstract, the authors certify that they/he/she has written consent for use of any recognizable photographs in posters or presentations.

Authors who submit multiple abstracts should be prepared to make arrangements for alternative presenters to attend if more than one abstract is accepted and presentation times overlap.
