May 4, 2026 – The American Cleft Palate Craniofacial Association (ACPA) is proud to announce the release of its revised Standards for Approval of Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Teams, updated to align with the Parameters of Care (ACPA Parameters) for Evaluation and Treatment of Individuals with Cleft Lip/Palate (CL/P) and/or Other Craniofacial Differences revised in 2024.
These Standards help define the essential components of high-quality, team-based care for individuals and families affected by cleft and craniofacial differences. This update reflects ACPA’s ongoing commitment to advancing care that is coordinated, comprehensive, and patient- and family-centered.
The revised Standards were developed through an extensive review process led by the Standards and Team Approval Process Task Force, with additional input from the Commission on Approval of Teams. The final version was approved by the ACPA Board of Directors in March 2026.
Moving forward, all current ACPA Approved Teams, as well as teams applying for approval, will be expected to meet the updated Standards. The 2026 Team Approval Application (opening in May) and upcoming self-audit reports will be updated to reflect these revisions.
