February 10, 2026 – The American Cleft Palate Craniofacial Association (ACPA) is thrilled to share that the Accelerating Kids’ Access to Care Act was passed and signed by the President on February 3 as part of the Omnibus bill H.R. 7148, the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2026. This important bipartisan legislation will help remove administrative barriers that can delay critical medical care for children.

The Accelerating Kids’ Access to Care Act streamlines the Medicaid and CHIP provider enrollment process for pediatric specialists, making it easier for families—especially those with children who have complex medical needs such as cleft and craniofacial differences—to access care across state lines when needed. By reducing redundant screenings while maintaining safeguards, this law supports timely, coordinated treatment and helps ensure kids get the care they deserve.

ACPA Executive Director Adam Levy shared, “ACPA has been advocating for the passage of the Accelerating Kids’ Access to Care Act since 2023, and we applaud Congress for including this critical legislation in the Consolidated Appropriations Act. This law will directly impact patients and families who must travel across state lines to receive care from their nearest ACPA Approved Team.”

This victory underscores the power of bipartisan action to improve children’s health and access to care nationwide.
