We love our handsome little guy (who has a bilateral cleft lip and complete cleft palate) and our medical team has been fantastic, but insurance is a nightmare and we’re constantly feeling like the rug is being pulled out from under us.
Most recently, our insurance denied our son’s hospital stay and informed us in a letter the day before we were set to have his cleft repair surgery (despite it being scheduled since he was only a few days old). Dealing with them has been a nightmare overall, but this is just one of those things that changes you as a person, especially when there aren’t really any federal protections in place. We are so desperate for ELSA to be pushed through the Senate or reintroduced if needed.
